What to expect: The Hacienda attracts couples, families, and budget-minded travelers who are satisfied being in Puerto Vallarta without needing to be on the beach. Amenity highlights: The good size, lagoon-style courtyard pool includes a hot tub section secluded behind a grotto garden. Raised on an adjacent terrace is a four-person hot tub. Isolated from pool noise is a health spa surrounded by flowering gardens containing a babbling brook. Under small, thatch-roof palapas, the spa offers massage, body and facial treatments, nail care, and yoga. Also available is a traditional temazcalli sweat bath in an igloo-shaped hut. Insider tip: Although the hotel is not on the ocean, all Mexican beaches are public. The nearest is 3 blocks away.
